The idea was inspired by watching “trailer reaction videos,” a popular YouTube format. But it was a format for influencers, who used professional gear and editing to broadcast to their audiences.
Some of us got to thinking… Snapchat is a camera. In fact, it’s the most used camera in the world, and it’s in the pockets of entertainment junkies everywhere. Why not give fans a way to watch trailers and record their reactions in one place, within the Snapchat camera? We’d democratize that creation process, and throw in AR effects to boot. We’d help fans participate in entertainment, instead of passively consume it. And we’d give studios a new way to drive trailer views, too.
